About Us

 

Phil Upton founded Upton’s Transport as an owner driver in 1977; he had spent his early years as a child having interests within the transport industry, as his parents ran a Cattle Truck business and his grandparents who were Master Bakers had small vans and even a Horse and Cart delivering Bread within the local villages from their Bakery based in Coleshill. Phil started offering pallet and parcel deliveries with 3.5 ton vehicles and trailers for Freight Forwarding firms based in the West Midlands covering the whole of the UK. Gail was introduced to the transport industry when she married Phil in 1981 and the business developed from running 3.5 ton vehicles to Artic vehicles when Phil applied for his International Operators Licence. The business progressed further by offering transport services within the Tipper Industry and Steel Industry as well as General Haulage. Operations then developed further by covering International Work for companies in Belgium and Holland and then moving into the Container Haulage.

In 2003 Phil and Gail decided to have another business operating under a National Operators Licence providing a further 5 vehicles to cover Container Haulage, thus G Upton Transport was formed.

Currently Phil Upton Transport runs vehicles within the Container Sector offering local and distance operations as well as covering refrigerated deliveries for a large Supermarket chain, Tautliner work for another large Store chain, but still has the facility to cover International work if required..

We operate from a secure yard based at Hams Hall, which is conveniently situated near ABP Freight Container Port and centrally based for Freightliner, CCS and BIFT alike. We have moved into larger premises within our site, which does offer some warehousing facilities.

Even though the bulk of our services covered are within the Container Industry, we are willing to see if we can find a solution to any haulage request, whether it be large or small.
